苏州大学博物馆是学校的直属单位。

为了彰显苏州大学的百年文化底蕴，进一步做好学校的文化保护工作，学校于2007年3月成立了博物馆，2010年5月10日正式开馆。目前为“全国高校博物馆育人联盟”单位；“中国博物馆协会团体会员”；“中国博物馆协会高校博物馆专业委员会常委单位”。

博物馆的定位为：一条主线，即以反映自东吴大学至今学校百年发展历程的实物展品为主，并辐射到中国近代高等教育，使之成为整个中国近代高等教育的缩影；一条辅线，即以具有吴文化地域特点且与苏州大学学科建设紧密相联的展品为背景；一条流动线，即设立临时展厅，举办一些有特色的、专门性的临时展览，以扩大影响。

博物馆的馆址为原东吴大学的司马德体育馆旧址。博物馆建筑由三部分构成，前展馆是原司马德体育馆，外观修旧如旧，以临时陈列为主，不断更新展览内容；后展馆是在原司马德游泳池地身进行扩建构成，由地下一层和地面三层组成，以固定陈列为主，开设了“跨越百年的流芳”、“艺苑菁华”、“文物荟萃”、“东吴碑廊”、“蓝白世界”等主题展厅。另附设办公区域，三部分建筑总面积达6000平方米。

目前馆藏三千余件，涵盖：校史实物、书画、碑刻、石器、陶器、瓷器、铜器、银器、玉器、钱币、木雕、布艺等类别，种类丰富，特色鲜明。

Soochow University Museum is affiliated to Soochow University.

The museum was founded in March 2007, and it was officially opened in May 10, 2010, to showcase the century-long history of the University and to maintain the protection of the cultural heritage. The museum is member of The National Education Alliance Of University And College Museums and Chinese Museums Association Institutional.It is also a standing member of Committee Of University And College Museums,which is under the leadership of Chinese Museums Association.

The museum features relics displaying the century-long historical development of the University; these relics also exhibit the development of modern Chinese higher education and service as a microcosm of the history of the entire Chinese higher education. The museum also presents relics that illustrate the local Wu Culture and that facilitate the development of arts and social sciences for Soochow University. In addition, the museum organizes distinctive and specialized temporary exhibitions to expand its influence.

The museum was built on the original site of Smart Gymnasium of the former Soochow University. It consists of three parts. The Front Hall is the original site of Smart Gymnasium. This section is renovated to maintain the original appearance and structure of the stadium, and it is home to temporary exhibitions. The Rear Hall is expanded on the former Madrid Swimming Pool, and it consists of the ground floor and a three-level building. It is home to permanent exhibits, and contains the theme exhibitions including "The University History Hall", "The Art and Calligraphy Hall","The Antiques and Relics Hall", "Dong Wu Epigraphs and Inscriptions Hall", "Blue-White World Hall". In addition, the office area constitutes the third main part of the museum, with a total area of 6,000 square meters.

There are currently over three thousand pieces of relics, including historical relics of the University, calligraphy, paintings, inscriptions, stones, ceramics, porcelain, bronze, silver, jade, coins, wood carvings, clothes and other categories; these relics cover a wide range of varieties in distinctive features.
